Bio

Born in Philadelphia, Hughie Mac currently resides in a small town just outside of Philadelphia where he frequently performs and is in demand at many bar/restaurants, private parties, and senior centers.  His dream gig is to someday perform at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.  He first became interested in performing approximately four years ago and decided to make a commitment to music professionally about two years ago.  Prior to his music and singing career, as Hugh MacDonough, he was a physical education teacher and coach.  On the side, he currently does some substitute teaching, coaching, and expert witnessing.  However, his present passion is now singing.

Coming from a family of accomplished musicians, Hughie listened to, and enjoyed music, all of his life.  His parents and relatives appreciated the sounds of Mozart, Beethoven, Sinatra, and Broadway show tunes.  When the time came to formulate his own musical identity and image, Hughie leaned toward retro pop, rock, and country.   If Hughie’s music were to be placed in a sounds-like category, many have said his sound resembles that of Ricky Nelson, Jimmy Buffet, and Frank Sinatra.  Michael Buble’ is one of his favorites.

Hughie recently released two albums of his favorite cover songs; Hughie Mac Sings Some Great Songs Part 1 and Part 2.  The two records include 33 of the greatest hits of all time.  All 33 songs are currently being played on Jango Internet Radio and are doing very well.
